The Lovejoy family wish to thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness!
The Lovejoy home, located at 17 Park Street, had been in the family since the 1920′s. This beautiful 4-story Victorian house with the beautiful wrap-around porch was filled with countless memories from Sandy, Jimmy, Beth, Karen, Susan, Jessie, Jimmy, Julia, Christopher, and Mia. It wasn’t just Sandy’s house – it was a home where her children came for security, where her grandchildren came for comfort, where family and friends gathered and loved was shared. The Lovejoy house was truly majestic and it will be missed.
On the night of the July 6th fire, it was another typical sleepover at grammies house. Sandy and Mia were sleeping on the second floor and Christopher and Julia were sleeping in the living room. Meanwhile, Jessie and Sue were getting ready to head up to bed on the third floor around midnight when they noticed the front porch was on fire. The fire spread very quickly and didn’t spare anything in its path. Amazingly enough, all 6 escaped without harm due to the quick thinking of Susan and Jessie. Jessie rescued her grandmother and 10 month old cousin from the second floor and her bravery that evening was truly heroic.
The house and its contents were a total loss, but the family has each other, which is all they could have asked for. Sandy, Beth, Karen and Susan as well as the rest of their family cannot thank you enough for your abundance of love and support as they start to rebuild their lives in Hopedale.

I have an XBox, with a bunch of games. Not an XBox 360 but its got a carrying case, extra controller, extra TV hookups, it also has a remote control to watch DVD’s with. If you need a small TV to go with it (small 13 inch) with an attached VCR. Everything little Chris would need to have fun. I also have a Kurig Coffee maker ready to go. Everything is in real good condition since I take care of everything I have. Let me know where to drop it off or if you don’t have a need for these items any more.
Sorry for your loss, I am a fellow Hopadale resident and loved seeing that house on my walk with my pups, it was an awful site to see since I love old houses, especially that one. I think it’s the best property on Park St. in my opinion.
Best wishes and good luck!
Thanks,
Paul Poisson

Paul, thank you so very very very much! My mom lost her Kurig in the fire so that would be perfect! She always had a regular Coffee machine and then her Kurig. My nephew Chris will be so excited with the xbox and games along w/the TV – that is exactly what he had in his bedroom. It doesn’t need to be a 360 – he will just be thrilled to play games!! You are so kind. The loss of such a beautiful home is hard to swallow especially since my sisters and I grew up there with our parents. My 3 children lived there as well for many years. The home had belonged to my Great Grandparents and my father even grew up in that house. It truly was majestic, beautifully built and filled with years upon years of memories. Thank you for your kind words and generosity. It is truly appreciated. Karen Lovejoy-Lovely

Your family is in our thoughts and prayers, and we will do what we can to help. I can only imagine how difficult it is to lose such a beautiful home with all of your family heirlooms and memories, but I’m glad everyone made it out safely, so you can create more memories together. Hang in there! With the support of your friends, family, and community, you will get through it!

Dear Regi, Josh and little Ava,
The note card you dropped off brought our entire family to tears and I truly do not know how to say thank you for thinking of us while in turn, I wish I could do something for you. I know you must be an amazingly strong loving family and I am blessed that you have come into our lives. I am forever grateful for everyone that was saved that night and know that it was all that truly mattered. Your family is in my thoughts as well and I hope that someday I will have the opportunity to thank you in person and somehow pay your love forward.

Thank you for your thoughtful post. I’m sorry it took me a few days to reply. The 1-year anniversary of my son’s passing was on Saturday, so I haven’t been online. I’m glad you and your family got our card and the stuff we dropped off. There is nothing we can do to bring Aidan back, but helping others in his memory is just one of the ways that we like to honor him and teach his little sister what a generous, caring soul he was/is.
When you get a chance, please update us, via this blog, on how your family is doing and what items they still need.
Take care, Regi
